Leaving traitorous, Got Grace

Front of the QuranImage via Wikipedia

Al-Qadi Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Baqi al-Bazzar Al-Ansari said: "In the past, I've been in Mecca may Allah the Most Holy and Most High always watch, one day I felt very hungry. I do not get something that can eliminate my hunger. Suddenly I found a bag of silk tied with socks made of silk also.

I picked it up and brought him home. When I open, I get inside a diamond necklace that I'd never seen before. I went out of the house, and then there was an old man who cried for the lost bag holding a cloth bag containing five hundred dinars. He said, 'This is for people who want to return the silk bag containing the jewels'. I said to myself, 'I'm needed, I was being hungry. I can take the money for the gold dinar I use silk bag and return it to him '.

So I said to the old father, 'Hey, come here'. Then I took him to my house. Arriving home, he told me that feature silk bag, the characteristics of restraints socks, diamond characteristics and amount of thread that bound follows. So I pulled out the bag and gave it to him and he gave me five hundred dinars, but I do not want to take it. I told him, 'Indeed I should return it to you without taking payment for it'. Turns out he insisted, 'You must be willing to accept it', as he kept forcing me. I'm still on my mind, do not want to accept.

Finally the old man went away leaving me. As for me, some time after that I came out of the city of Mecca and sailed by boat. In the middle of the sea, the boat lift was broken, people are all drowned with their possessions. But I survived, with riding a board from the broken pieces of the boat. For some time I stayed in the sea, not knowing where to go!

Finally I arrived at an island population. I sat in one of their mosque while reciting verses from the Qur'an. When they know how I read it, none of the inhabitants of the island unless he came to me and say, 'teach the Qur'an to me'. I fulfill their requests. From them I got a lot of property.

Inside the mosque, I found a few pieces of Mushaf, I took and started to read it. Then they asked, 'Can you write? ", I replied,' Yes'. They said, 'Well, teach us to write'. They also come with children and adolescents are also their. I teach them writing. From that instant, I got a lot of money. After that, they say, 'We have an orphaned daughter, she has enough property. Would you marry her? "I refused. But they continued to insist, 'No way, you have to want'. Finally I indulge them, too. When they took the girl to the front of me, I look at him. Suddenly I saw the diamond necklace that once I find in Mecca around his neck. Nothing I did at that time but just keep watching the jewel necklace.

They said, 'Really, you have destroyed the heart of this orphan girl. You only notice the necklace and did not notice him '. So I tell them my story with these necklaces. Once they know, they shouted Takbir until tahlil and heard by local residents. 'What's wrong with you?', I asked. They said, 'How did you know that the parents who took the necklace from you at that time was this girl's father'. He once said, 'I have never had a Muslim in this world (well) people who have returned the necklace to me'.

He also prayed, 'O Allah, that I arrange a meeting with him until I can marry her off with my daughter', and has now become a reality '. I began to navigate life with him and we were blessed with two children. Then my wife died and diamond necklace into treasures for me and for my children. But both my son was dead, too, until the jewel necklace fell into my hands. Then I sold it for a hundred thousand dinars. And the property you see in me right now is the rest of the money that 100 thousand dinars. "

Muslim astronomers

Jabir ibn Aflah is the first Muslim astronomers in Europe to build the observatory Giralda, in Serville. His work entitled The Book of Astronomy

Astronomy is the science that has long been the object of study of Muslims. Through the study of this science of the Muslims are able to unravel the mystery of the heavenly bodies and provide a valuable contribution to the world.

Attention to astronomy has given birth to the Muslim astronomers a great influence on the world stage. Here are seven of these astronomers, many of the references to scientists, both Muslim and non-Muslims.

1. Al-Farghani

His full name is Abu'l-Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Kathir al-Farghani. He was born in Farghana, a town on the banks of the river Sardania, Uzbekistan. Western scholars of the Middle Ages called her Al-Fraganus.

Al-Farghana lived during the reign of Caliph al-Ma'mun in the 9th century AD. At that time, the government did provide support for the development of science and technology, including the study of astronomy. Even the Caliph to build a research institute called Al-Mamun Academy. Al-Farghani is one of the scientists who were recruited to join the academy.

In the academy, Al-Farghani conduct experiments to determine the diameter of the earth. He also described the distance and the diameter of the other planets. Astronomers also introduces the terms of the original Arabic as azimuth, zenith, nadir, and so on.

Al-Farghani wrote two famous works. One of them is fi al-Harakat al-Samawiya Ilm wa al-Jawami augury. The book is peeling and the study of celestial motion of the stars. Arabic original manuscript until the book is still stored in Paris (France) and Berlin (Germany).

In the 12th century AD, Al-Farghani works have been translated as The Elements of Astronomy. This translation has been a big influence for the development of astronomy in Europe before the time of Regiomontanus.

2. Ibn Rusta

His full name is Abu Ali Ahmad ibn Umar ibn Rusta. He was an astronomer whose theory is always based on Qur `an.

His book is the famous Al-an-Nafisa A'lak written between the years 903 to 913 AD This book is updated by De Goeje (Leiden) in 1892 AD

Book by Ibn Rusta explains various disciplines, including mathematics, geography, and history. The early chapters contain sfera-sfera sky, the signs of the zodiac, the planets, planet positions in the universe, as well as shape, size, and sferisitasnya.

Rusta Ibn systematically tried to distinguish between mathematical and geographical geographically astronomical. He even tried to discuss briefly the sources of knowledge, different views, as well as astronomical theories Arabic, Greek, and India. The views of the astronomers of the rotation are also included in it.

In the book, after the introduction, Ibn Rusta add a description of Mecca and Medina. These scientists cite many verses of Al-Qur `an to strengthen the scientific views.

3. Ibn Iraq

Full name of Abu Nasr Mansur ibn Ali ibn Iraq. He is known as an astronomer and mathematician prominent around the year 1000 AD Memoirs written in the book of Al-Amir and Amir al-Mawla Mu'minin.

There are approximately 15 texts on mathematics and astronomy written by him. He praised the scientists for the method in determining findings apooge point, which is the farthest point from the earth revolves around the sun now, which was always changing the Ecliptic (the orbit where the sun seems to move).

4. Jabir ibn Aflah

Jabir ibn Aflah name is often confused with the character Jabir Ibn Hayyan, a chemical engineer to the 8th century AD Both have the same Latin name, which is Geber. And Aflah or Muhammed Jabir Jabir ibn Aflah is mid-century astronomer. He comes from Serville.

Jabir ibn Aflah is the first Muslim astronomers in Europe to build the observatory Giralda. This observatory is located in his hometown, Serville.

The astronomical works include a book called The Book of Astronomy. A copy of this book is still stored in Berlin.

In the book, Jabir sharply critical of some views and thoughts Ptolemaneus astronomers, especially the opinion that affirms that the planets nearest the sun - Mercury and venus - does not have parallax value, which changes the position of an object due to migration observations. Jabir himself parallax value of about 3 degrees to the sun. Also states that planets closer to Earth than the sun.

Jabir's book also explains trigonometry specifically in one chapter.

5. Al-Bitriji

He is a Spanish-Arab astronomer. Astronomical theory of well-known until now is a spiral motion. This theory is a source of Aristotelianism understood initiated by Ibn Bajjah, teacher, and the astronomer Jabir ibn Aflah.

The theory of spiral movement resulting from the formulation simplicus (6th century AH). According to this theory, sfera-sfera sky swirled around the axes is different so it will produce a spiral-shaped movement. This theory is described at length in a book entitled al-Haya Fil.

6. Ibn Saffar

Ibn Saffar is a mathematician and astronomer Spanish nationality. He has written a number of astronomical tables Sindhid method. The work is no less quality than another treatise he made about the use of the astrolabe.

Unfortunately, some parts of the astronomical tables that were written in Arabic only a few survived in its original language. Was a book that tells about the use of the astrolabe has been edited by JM Millas Vallicrosa astronomer. The script has been written in two versions of Latin.

Astrolabe is the name of some astronomical equipment used for the purposes of theoretical and practical. For instance props and instruments defining the right time graphically every day.

7. Al-Khwarizmi

His full name is Abu Abdullah Mohammad Ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi. He was born in the year 770 AD in Khwarizm (Kheva), a town south of the Oxus River (now Uzbekistan) and died in 847 AD

He was the first scientist to successfully create the new moon visibility criteria used to determine the entry of the month of Ramadan. The criteria are then refined by the next generation of Muslim scholars called Maslama ibn Ahmad al-Majriti. Was Ibn Ishaq al-Tunisi (from Tunisia), as well as Muslim astronomer, managed to also find the new moon visibility criteria that differ markedly from the opinion of Al-Khwarizmi in the early 13th century.

Al-Khwarizmi also known as the first scientist who introduced the concept of mathematical algorithms, namely systematic thinking method that is widely used in computer science. Al-Khwarizmi's name known in Europe with the title Algorizm, forerunners of the algorithm name. [W Murtiningsih / Delta / www.hidayatullah.com]

Mosque Islamic Center of Washington DC The Islamic studying

Islamic Center, the oldest mosque in Washington DC, is not only a favorite destination for residents of American Muslims visited, but also many non-Muslims who came there in search of knowledge and knowledge about Islam.

"We're trying to spread knowledge about Islam as the Qur'an teaches us, through wisdom and good guidance," Imam Abdullah M. Khouj, Director of the Center for Islamic Center - told Islam Online.net in an interview in his office.

A historic mosque, located in the heart of Washington on Massachusetts Avenue, is a destination for non-Muslims from America and abroad who come to join in a popular tour.

"Every day we receive 100-600 guests," said Imam Khouj.

Some tours conducted for the State Department official who will serve in the Islamic world or the students who will study in Muslim countries.

"They came to the Islamic Center and we give lectures and seminars on the situation in the Middle East and what to expect and how to behave in an Islamic country," explained the priest Khouj.

Islamic Center is the oldest mosque in the Washington Metropolitan area. "The mosque was built in 1947, and opened to the public in 1952," said the priest Khouj. When opened, the mosque has become the largest place of worship for Muslims in the Western Hemisphere.

Khouj said the idea of building a mosque was first born in 1944, when it was not a single mosque in the capital of the United States. "This is a joint effort of Muslims here and ambassadors of Islamic countries," he explained.

"Turkey's ambassador at the time discussed the possibility of particular U.S. city of Washington DC has a place for Muslims to practice their religion in the U.S., and it is this which makes what the mosque can exist." Islamic Center is managed by a board of directors that consists of all the ambassadors from Islamic countries accredited to the United States.

During the tour, the mosque officials also provide information about Islam, its teachings and the Prophet Muhammad and answer questions from visitors who are curious about Islam.

"Many were asking about the status of Jesus Christ in Islam, and I answered them that you can not become a true Muslim if you do not believe in Jesus," said Koroma Abbassie, coordinator of the group who visited the Islamic Center.

"The others asked me that if Islam is a tolerant and peaceful then why are there so many Muslims to become terrorists. I said that Islam had nothing to do with the wrongdoing committed by the individual."

Koroma was speaking after completing a tour to a group of Christian Sunday school who listened intently as he talked about the five pillars of Islam and what it means to be a Muslim.

"We came because I wanted the students to understand about Muslims, their religion," Tom Clumet, from Sunday School, told IOL.

Dean was one of the students, joined the tour because his friend was a Muslim and he wants to know more about the religion of his friend. "I got information that helped me. I feel to know Islam better now." Islamic Center is also the arrival of important figures for several years, including several presidents of various countries.

Islamic Center is a mosque which was chosen by President George W. Bush on September 17, 2001, just days after 9 / 11 attacks, to talk to Americans about Islam. Islamic Center, the oldest mosques in the Washington Metropolitan area, offers a variety of services to the local Muslim community.

Like the mosques throughout the U.S., the Islamic Center offers various services to the local Muslim community. "This place is central to every Muslim in the neighborhood," said the director of the Islamic Center Khouj. "We're trying to be a place of education, cultural and social center in addition to being a religious place."

This mosque also contains a big library with all sorts of books on Islam, and have classes to study Arabic, the Qur'an, Islamic law and other subjects related to Islam. "Unfortunately, space in the Islamic Center does not allow us to build a school here, but we managed to set Saturday and Sunday classes for six classes."

The mosque is also involved in the social life of society and try to solve some of their problems. "We do marriage counseling, we help people understand funeral and burial procedures, we try to help people who are not married to married," said the priest Khouj.

"We bought a large cemetery and is available for Muslims to bury those who died for free, because the cost of the funeral here in the United States is very expensive."

But the Islamic Center services are the most proud of is the program da `wah. "We have a large number of people who converted to Islam in here every month," said the priest Khouj. "We made a seminar for the converts, to engage in their new religion, so that they understand and have a clear vision, not just to follow certain methods."

Islamic Center Director also confirmed that their outreach beyond the mosque building. "We have the participants to help us send packages of books to institutions across the U.S., especially in prisons where people want to know about Islam," he said.

"And we received a letter from officials at several prisons are thankful to us because after receiving Muslim prisoners are changing their behavior and they become better human beings. Khouj trust by helping to spread the message of Islam is the main role to every mosque. "We send a lot of people to schools, organizations and prisons to give lectures about Islam.

"We're trying hard to hold fast to the teachings of our religion and the representation of Islam as it should." (Fq / IOL)

Islamic-start the U.S. Coming to Columbus

By Republika Newsroom

Raleigh - An exhibition exploring the North Carolina early Islamic heritage and their contribution in building America.

Exhibition at Shaw University Mosque on Sunday (23/11) and was denied the hypothesis that the Muslims first came to the U.S. in the 1960s, or that the earliest among them was an African-American who converted to Islam as a retired boxer, or black activists.

The exhibition, "Muslims in America," shows that Muslim explorers may have preceded Christopher Columbus and that the Muslims fought in every U.S. war since the Revolutionary War. Census records show that 584 soldiers by the end of Muhammad's name (spelled 33 different ways) fought in World War I.

More than 200 visitors adults and children witnessed the letters, photographs, and gravestones as evidence of Islam before the arrival of Columbus. They also read that North Carolina is home to one of the slaves of the most famous Muslim, Omar Ibn Sayyid from Fayetteville.

"I learned about this in college but I do not know the role of North Carolina," said Jamaal Albany, a teacher at Al-Iman, a Muslim school in Raleigh, who brought some of the students in sixth grade and seventh to the exhibition. "It's incredible."

The exhibition was the idea of Amir Muhammad, a Washington historian researching his own family roots in Georgia, a dozen years ago and it found traces of the past is forgotten Muslims, who formed the West African Muslims who brought to this country as slaves.

"We're part of American society," said Muhammad. "That does not begin with the Nation of Islam, and it does not come with a wave of immigrants in the 1960s," said Muhammad.

Muhammad had brought poster board from Maine to California, stopping at every town to tour for a few hours. Original portraits and some rare artifacts form an exhibition at the Smithsonian 4 years ago.

The contribution of North Carolina in the history of American Muslims may have started with Sayyid, who was born in a country that is now called with Senegal in 1770. He is a Muslim scholar who read and write in Arabic. He made at age 37 and arrived in Charleston, SC, in 1807.

Four years later, he fled to Fayetteville and, after some time in jail, pushing James Owen, a general in the state militia, to buy it. Impressed by Sayyid, Owen bought the Qur'an translation in English so that Sayyid and learn English Bansa better. All of this Sayyid himself in his autobiography written with the Arabic language.

"This is the brothers whose history we never knew," said Ali Haji Abdul Malik from Raleigh, who was present to witness the exhibition. "Now they began to be recognized."

While historians may argue that most Muslims are not slaves, it is clear that the early leaders of the United States open to the Islamic world and treating them with respect. Features that showed a letter written by George Washington to the King of Morocco and the peace treaty signed by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson between the U.S. and Morocco. IOL / no / taq
