Watch TV Make Children More Aggressive

REPUBLIKA DOC
EXCESSIVE: Excessive television watching in children can cause various adverse effects of psychological and medical side. It is feared that it also triggered an early sex as a teenager.

Some U.S. researchers have found that watching television affects a child's behavior is just learning to walk, the more often they watch television, the more aggressive their behavior. For the study, researchers at the State University of New York to collect data from home and by telephone on 3128 children born between 1998 and 2000.
The children came from 20 major cities in the U.S., and their mothers completed the polls when children are born, and then fill them again when the child was one year old and three years.
The study found that watching TV directly by the child or papranan (exposure) to indirectly watching television in the house, both related to aggressiveness in children is still very young.
"For every hour a child watching TV directly, the aggressiveness up 0.16 on a scale of zero to 30. Make every TV was turned on in the house, the increase was 0:09," said study leader Jennifer A. Manganello, assistant professor of health communication at the University of Albany School of Public Health, State University, New York, as reported China's official news agency, Xinhua.
The researchers finally concluded after the monitoring data on a variety of other factors, such as depression experienced by her mother, living in unsafe neighborhoods and beaten. "TV is more likely, compared with other factors, to increase aggressive behavior," said Mangenello.
"The message from this study is that parents are not just thinking about how long kids can watch TV, but also think about the media environment as a whole in the house," Manganello said.
The study was published in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, published in November. "Exposure to violence in the media, including television, movies, music and video games, is an important risk to the health of children and adolescents," said American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
"The evidence indicates that extensive research on media violence can contribute to aggressive behavior, decreased sensitivity to violence, nightmares and fear harmed," wrote the Council of Communication and Media AAP. ant/rin/

Physical beatings trigger Decreased IQ Child

CORBIS.COM
Physical beatings from their parents to give former deep trauma in children

At a child as a medium of awareness was not only an adverse impact on the psychological but also the level of intelligence. Research by the University of New Hampshire, USA reported, most of the children who are often beaten parents have high levels of intelligence (IQ) is low.
Moreover, the study also noted another surprising result in which a child who experienced harsh treatment would have difficulty to follow the level of higher education.
"All parents would want their kids smarter. This study shows how the negative effects of harsh treatment of parents and treatment of error correction on the other hand to prevent that happening," said one researcher. Murrat Strauss of the University of New Hampsphire, was quoted as saying the U.S. Yahoonews, last week.
The study uses a methodology that links between harsh treatment and intelligence. This methodology linking a number of other relationships such as economic status.
"You might say prove it, but I think this method will give you how laternatif. I believe that the harsh treatment of older people will make the mental development and ability to decrease slowly," he said.
The study took a sample of 1510 children was divided into two age range groups. The first group with a population of 806 children 2-4 years age range and the second group with a population of 704 children 5-9 years age range. Researchers then gave IQ tests at the beginning and 4 years later.
The two groups each consisting of children who get hard and do not treat each child's parent. The result, said Strauss, who noted significant thing. Some of the children who experienced harsh treatment experienced delays in the development of IQ tests and more tests beginning 4 years later. Increased IQ just happen to children who do not experience harsh treatment.
According to observers of Children and Families from Duke Univesity, Jennifer Lansford assessing the results of research so interesting. He also berpendat, research has a strong basic foundation. "Referring to the development of children, it is possible that children with lower IQ associated with physical discipline problems of excessive," he said.
Psychological factors
The research then find a way why IQ has decreased significantly after a hard treat. Conclusion refers to psychological factors during a child's harsh treatment.
"Everyone must believe in, beaten by parents would give the former deep trauma in children," said Strauss. He further explained, the trauma effect of stress on children when facing difficult situations and conditions that make children difficult issue capability.
"With the strike, parents can only get attention and obey the child's attitude when it struck. It prevents children to think freely," commented Elizabeth Gershoof, expert from the University of Texas Children. Thus, he said, children behave properly only when beaten only or children only do something because the thought of the blow, not the initiative.
Therefore, Gershoff advise parents to immediately stop the habit of hitting the children make mistakes or when his children do not deserve. cr2/itz

Islamic-start the U.S. Coming to Columbus

By Republika Newsroom

Raleigh - An exhibition exploring the North Carolina early Islamic heritage and their contribution in building America.

Exhibition at Shaw University Mosque on Sunday (23/11) and was denied the hypothesis that the Muslims first came to the U.S. in the 1960s, or that the earliest among them was an African-American who converted to Islam as a retired boxer, or black activists.

The exhibition, "Muslims in America," shows that Muslim explorers may have preceded Christopher Columbus and that the Muslims fought in every U.S. war since the Revolutionary War. Census records show that 584 soldiers by the end of Muhammad's name (spelled 33 different ways) fought in World War I.

More than 200 visitors adults and children witnessed the letters, photographs, and gravestones as evidence of Islam before the arrival of Columbus. They also read that North Carolina is home to one of the slaves of the most famous Muslim, Omar Ibn Sayyid from Fayetteville.

"I learned about this in college but I do not know the role of North Carolina," said Jamaal Albany, a teacher at Al-Iman, a Muslim school in Raleigh, who brought some of the students in sixth grade and seventh to the exhibition. "It's incredible."

The exhibition was the idea of Amir Muhammad, a Washington historian researching his own family roots in Georgia, a dozen years ago and it found traces of the past is forgotten Muslims, who formed the West African Muslims who brought to this country as slaves.

"We're part of American society," said Muhammad. "That does not begin with the Nation of Islam, and it does not come with a wave of immigrants in the 1960s," said Muhammad.

Muhammad had brought poster board from Maine to California, stopping at every town to tour for a few hours. Original portraits and some rare artifacts form an exhibition at the Smithsonian 4 years ago.

The contribution of North Carolina in the history of American Muslims may have started with Sayyid, who was born in a country that is now called with Senegal in 1770. He is a Muslim scholar who read and write in Arabic. He made at age 37 and arrived in Charleston, SC, in 1807.

Four years later, he fled to Fayetteville and, after some time in jail, pushing James Owen, a general in the state militia, to buy it. Impressed by Sayyid, Owen bought the Qur'an translation in English so that Sayyid and learn English Bansa better. All of this Sayyid himself in his autobiography written with the Arabic language.

"This is the brothers whose history we never knew," said Ali Haji Abdul Malik from Raleigh, who was present to witness the exhibition. "Now they began to be recognized."

While historians may argue that most Muslims are not slaves, it is clear that the early leaders of the United States open to the Islamic world and treating them with respect. Features that showed a letter written by George Washington to the King of Morocco and the peace treaty signed by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson between the U.S. and Morocco. IOL / no / taq

Be Stubborn People Who!

Author: IPhO Santoso
Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki had warned, both in daily life, business, investment, work and other areas, we must think to win, not just not lose. Related to that, I am very comfortable with General Electric (GE), the second largest company in the world. Beginning in 1876, relying on its technology strengths, GE and then extended household appliances, electric lamps, financial, aircraft jet engines, nuclear power, and others.

Since moving in all the land, began the 1970s was transformed into a giant GE that are not nimble fat and wasteful. Fortunately, in 1981 led GE's extraordinary figure named Jack Welch. With a shout, "Fix, close, sell!" He also hand over 200 subsidiaries and acquire other companies 1700. Criteria dump or simply acquire subsidiaries, to be number one or number two in the field. If not, GE will forget that field. Other terms, make sure to win, not just not lose.

When he entered, the value of GE is U.S. $ 14 billion. When he came out 20 years later, its value jumped as high as U.S. $ 130 billion. If may be arrogant, no one business leader on this earth that could double the value of such, other than himself. Lately, GE assessed for half a trillion dollars and in 2006 the GE brand valued of U.S. $ 48,907 million. GE Be one of the most expensive brands in this universe. And it all stems from the philosophy of winning, not just not lose.

On the ground water, a little-a lot of Ciputra Group, Kem Chicks, and Astra International also practice that philosophy. In any field, they fight to win, not just not lose. And believe it or not, the main step to achieve it is to be a stubborn person. Of course, in the sense of persistent, rather than random ndableg. Please highlighted it. Unfortunately, Indonesia has been known as a friendly nation, not a nation which fiercely. If Japan and Korea, then touted as the indomitable nation.

Take note, both Ciputra, Bob Sadino, and William Soerjadjaja also been in debt and even bankruptcy. Is no exception. At least at certain periods. However, they did not kepikir to balik kampung. Instead of that, they actually go forward. Now, they are icons in their path.

An economist from Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, will show us all what is meant by persistent. Obsession as it is how local banks can channel and extended credit to people who are very poor. Just imagine, many of them expect the loan ranges from 12,000 rupiah.

A very noble idea this time he handed over the place, but it all just shook his head. Any smart as he argues, is still bankers and government officials argued, "People do not feasible given the protracted credit." Fortunately, he was among those who persevere. He uninstall and leave the way of a bird. Instead, he even wore a worm perspective, in which he tried to find out what lies right in front of the eye. With a sniff. With the touch.

At first, he just became a kind of guarantor for the very poor people. Eventually, he ended up starting his own bank, of course in accordance with the concept that he had dreamed from the beginning. His name Grameen Bank. Unexpectedly, the bank now had to handle 46,000 villages in Bangladesh through more than 1,200 branches. For his services which is tireless, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. That is the fruit of perseverance.

Life is a choice

Jerry was a restaurant manager in America. He
always in good spirit and always had a thing
positive to say. If someone asked
him about what he was doing, he
would always reply, "If I can be a more
well, I'd rather be twins! "

{{en|0}}Image via Wikipedia

Many ministers in the restaurant out if Jerry moved
work, so they can continue to follow the
one restaurant to another restaurant. Reasons why
the waiters followed Jerry out
is because of her attitude.

Jerry was a natural motivator. if employees
was having a bad day, he was always there in
there, telling the employee how to look at
the positive side of the situation being experienced.

Seeing this style really made me
curious, so one day I met Jerry and
asked him, "I do not understand! No way
someone becomes a positive-minded people
all the time.

How can you do? "Jerry said,
"Every morning I wake up and say to myself, I
have two options today. I can choose to
is in a good mood or vote in
a bad mood. I always vote in the atmosphere
good. Every time something happens, I can
choose to be a victim or I learned from
incident. I always choose
learn from it. Each have someone deliver
complaints, I can choose to receive complaints
they or I can take the positive side ..
I always choose the positive side. "

"But it is not always that easy," I protested. "Yes,
it is, "Jerry said," Life is a
choice. When you remove the whole problem, each
it is a choice. You choose how
responding to all the circumstances.
You choose how people around you
affected by feeling.
You chose to exist in good condition or
bad. It is your choice how you live. "

A few years later, I heard Jerry had
disaster unthinkable happened in
the restaurant business: do not let the back door
locked in one morning and robbed by three men
armed. When trying to open the safe, his hand
shaking with nerves and one dial
combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.
Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and immediately taken to
hospital.

After undergoing surgery for 18 hours and a week
intensive care, Jerry was able to leave home
pain in several parts of the bullet was still in
in the body. I saw Jerry about six months after
the disaster.

When I asked Jerry how he was doing, he
replied, "If I can be better, I'm more
like to be twins. Want to see the former
my wounds? "I looked down to see his wounds,
but I was also asked what the
his mind as the robbery.

"The first thing that comes to mind is
that I had to lock the back door, "Jerry replied.
"Then after they shot and I
lying on the floor, I remembered that I had two
choices: I could choose to live or die. I
choose to live. "

"Are you not afraid?" I asked. Jerry continued,
"The great medical experts. They kept saying that
I'll recover. But when they wheeled me into the room
emergency room and saw the expression on the faces of doctors
and sisters I was so scared. Their eyes said 'People
This will die '. I knew I had to take
action. "

"What are you doing?" I asked. "There is
fat nurse who asked me, "said Jerry." He
asked if I had allergies. 'Yes' I replied ..

The doctors and nurses stopped working and they
waiting for my answer. I took a deep breath and
yelled, 'Bullets! " Amid the laughter of their I
say, 'I choose to live. Help me
operated as a living, not dead '. "

Jerry can live because of the expertise of doctors, but
also because of his amazing life. I
learned from him that every day you can choose
whether you will enjoy your life or hate it.

One thing that yours truly could not
controlled by others is the attitude of your life,
so if you can control it and all
things in life will be easier.

Gateway to Joy and Peace of Mind

For the past few months many of you may be wondering why you have not been receiving our monthly newsletter. We can always put the blame on our server or our web-hosted etc ... but the truth was we have not written any newsletter for the past few months. We have nothing to share, we were experiencing a "writer's block". Anyway the good news is the "writer's block" is now melting down - so we are on once again. Interestingly it is this very newsletter, which melts down the 'block'.

It occurs to me that most people would put blame on the 'outside' factor when things do not go right or go their way. And when things go right, we tend to claim it as our own doings.

A common example is when one's life is running smoothly and successful we feel proud and tend to claim full responsibility for it but when one's life is full of problems and our business is in a bad shape, we often cry out "Why me?"

We will blame our friends, neighbors, our customers, our Staffs, our boss, our government and even God. The funny thing is how may of us thank our friends, neighbors etc ... when things are going well like a breeze. Here, we can note that most humans prefer only the good side and tend to push away the "bad" side. We just do not like to 'own' the 'bad side'. In fact, ironic as it may seem, it is this non-acceptance of the 'bad' side which is the cause for a lot of our miseries, sufferings and mental anxieties.

If we were to push away something or someone because we do not like it or hate it, we inevitably experience bad feelings and bad mental states, hence suffering! If we can be ONE with that "thing", and not pushing it away or hating it, we will experience a sense of peace and well being.

Through the ages wise we often hear statements like "accept it", "surrender to it", "become one with it", "be one with the universe", all of it means almost the same thing-accept what ever life brings, take it as solely your own responsibility and not blaming others, only then will you be able to transcend the sufferings of life. It's important to note that leaving this responsibility to any outside factor or 'being' would still create a 'separation' or 'alienation' and would not help either. At best it may only give you a temporary relief.

Remember we learn to walk alongside all the fallings. We succeed alongside all the failings. A wise man was once asked, "Master, why do we have to die?" And he answered, "Because we were born".

May you accept all your bad experiences

Your fellow traveler in time.

Scientists with the White Rat

A scientist was testing the potential and power of the white rat. Every morning he took out a selection of white mice from their cages and put into a machine full glass of water. Scientists had noticed how the rat was struggling to stay alive.

If the mouse is visible already lost power and began to sink to the bottom of the water, so he immediately gave his right hand and lifted the rat. He was always full record of all developments during the week. Of note is known that the strength and endurance in the water rats increased from day to day.

Napoleon in his study by Jacques-Louis David (...Image via Wikipedia

On the eighth day, he again tested the strength and endurance of mice. But not long ago he heard his cell phone rang. He talked long enough to call someone on the other side of none other than his own girlfriend. While struggling rats in the water is not intentionally trying harder because the scientists thought would help him. But the unfortunate, the rat was actually drowned because scientists are too busy talking to his girlfriend.

Who killed the rat? The answer is the mouse's own mind. Scientifically based progress notes the resilience and the ability of the mice, scientists were assessing the rat should be able to last longer. But because the mouse is already only expect help that never came, so he died.

Message:
The rat was not drowned because he could not swim. It was mentioned that the capacity and resilience of the rat is good enough even increased from day to day. The problem is that he was not willing to fight for his life, and only rely on help from others is the scientist.

The story is inspiring that every level of progress or success of one is always preceded by a challenge.
If we
been able to conquer these challenges, its own strengths and accomplishments of our more advanced level. So that our success lies in how much our will to conquer these challenges, because God Almighty has given us two hands so that we can help ourselves.

Not change it if we want to succeed, then we must be willing to improve themselves and persistent effort. "Victory belongs to the most Persevering. Glory belongs to those who persevere," said Napoleon Bonaparte, the former ruler of France who lived in the year 1769 until tahun1821.
Because of our state will never be better to rely on help from others.
